More Information

The Structured Five Panel Hat

This hat gets noticed from all angles. The side panels are handmade by artisans with a waist loom using 100% cotton thread. Weaved repeatedly to form a tight but smooth fabric using multiple color threads. The top panel is made using trench coat fabric, and features an adjustable leather strap. Available in different colorways for every outing.

The yellow in this hat represents the fireflies of Nanacamilpa.

Somewhere: Chiapas, Mexico

The artisanal technique of Chiapas, México is the waist loom. This technique consists of hanging one end of the loom in a fixed place with the other end placed on the artisans waist so threads can stretch vertically to interlace and form a textile. This technique allows the creation of very intricate pieces that use many colors.
