Cool off with these fair trade and organic finds
In the midst of a heatwave, what could be better than a cold drink? Other than air conditioning, that is. Air conditioning is obviously best.
Still, cold drinks are pretty good and when things cool down a bit, you may even like to enjoy them on your porch on a summer afternoon.
Or perhaps by the pool.
Wherever you’re headed, these are the drinks to take with you!
Blue Mayan Cold Brew Blend
If you’re a machine that runs on coffee but you can’t stomach the thought of a piping hot cup first thing on a piping hot morning, Blue Mayan Coffee’s Cold Brew Blend may be the answer to your prayers.
It’s a medium roast, smooth blend with notes of chocolate and a mouthfeel that’s been described as, “velvety.”
Not a bad way to start your day!
The coffee is grown in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala on the Pachilha and San Juan farms, which are both family-run.
You can order the coffee in whole bean format or have it ground for you, whatever you prefer.
You can also order it by the 12 ounce bag or get 5 pounds at once- I’m not here to judge.
Hibiscus Heart Song
Mountain Mel’s has a ton of great teas, many of which are also great iced. Hibiscus Heart Song is one of those blends that’s just perfect to enjoy cold.
Not only does it have a gorgeous pink hue when brewed that looks great in a glass, but it also has flavors of lemon verbena, orange, and of course hibiscus that will lift your spirits on a hot summer day.
This tea is also packed full of antioxidants and Vitamin C!
Daily Divini-Tea is another blend from Mountain Mel’s that’s great over ice. It has a distinctive, punchy lemon flavor. It’s no wonder when lemon balm, lemongrass, and lemon verbena are all in the mix.
Rosehips and spearmint balance out the flavors a bit, leading to a delicious and refreshing cup of tea that has a vibrant yellow color that will put a smile on your face.
Green Sonata is a green tea blend from Happy Earth Teas that makes a great iced tea. Green tea is somewhat underrepresented in the world of commercial iced tea blends and mixes, but the real thing is worth seeking out!
Raspberry is the predominate fruity flavor in this blend, with floral notes of hibiscus hanging back on the tongue a bit.
You may not be able to go back to canned and bottled iced teas once you try this green tea iced tea!
Women’s Bean Project Iced Tea Mixes
If you’re not really a “tea person,” don’t have the right equipment to brew loose leaf tea, or just generally don’t want to mess around with all that, you may be looking for a simple powdered iced tea mix. The “just add water” type.
Women’s Bean Project has got just what you need, and actually, it comes in your choice of two different flavors.
The first is raspberry lemongrass, a sweet and fruity flavor with just a hint of citrusy mint. They also have a mango peach flavored iced tea mix which is an instant hit with everyone who tries it. You can’t go wrong with either one!
And to Serve
Enjoy your refreshments even more by serving them up in a recycled glass Tavola Pitcher from Newly, a colorful stemless handblown wine glass from GlobeIn, or a matching pitcher and glass set from Baladi Home.
