Of course! Like all of the Kyrgies' slippers, these wool felt insoles come from the factory in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. There, they’re lovingly handcrafted by Kyrgyz artisans to whom we pay a fair wage for their craftsmanship. Forming part of a tradition of felting that has existed for thousands of years, the felt house shoes are made using all-natural materials, including low-impact dyes that won’t damage local ecosystems.

We live and breathe environmental sustainability at Kyrgies, which is why we’re committed to offsetting all of the carbon use thanks to the work of Carbon Neutral. We also give 1% of the gross sales each year through the 1% for the Planet network to non-profits working on environmental projects around the world.

We recommend choosing an insole that matches the size of your slipper. However, as the insoles are handmade, they can vary slightly in size.

How can I keep my insoles in tip-top condition?

As with the Kyrgies slippers, you should never wash your insoles using water. Like all wool products, the insoles can shrink or be misshapen through contact with water. Because wool is naturally moisture-wicking, these insoles should actually refrain from picking up any unpleasant odors during the course of their lifetime. However, if they do become stained, get them dry-cleaned. They’ll be returned — as if by magic — to their original condition.
