Recently a 100% organic, eco-friendly brand that gives back to the planet went ahead and provided some great proof of that.
Consumer Reports rated Avocado Green Mattress as the world’s top-scoring mattress. This 4-year old company that’s producing mattresses on-demand with a mission to “make healthy sleep accessible and affordable” beat out Serta, Sealy, IKEA, and other major players. And not just for the “best organic mattress,” “best non-toxic mattress,” or “best eco-friendly mattress,” but just for being the best damn mattress in the world, period.
According to Consumer Reports:
“The Avocado is the only innerspring mattress in our ratings to earn an Excellent Overall Score. And it’s our highest-rated mattress across the innerspring, foam, and adjustable-air categories. Talk about superlatives.
What pushed the Avocado into standout territory?
“It accommodates a wider range of body types and sleeping styles, offering an excellent support score for petite, average, and large/tall side sleepers as well as for average and large/tall back sleepers.”
It’s so great to see an ethical and sustainable brand just haul off and kick ass like this—but to be honest, we’re not surprised.
Yeah, but how good is Avocado?
Avocado is so confident their mattresses are built-to-last they give you a 25-year warranty and a 100-night trial period—free shipping to your place, and then free shipping back if you decide not to keep it.

Most standard mattresses are packed with toxins. They’ve got us marinating in things like formaldehyde, boric acid, tetrachloroethane, and other nasty chemicals. A growing number of us now are more conscious than ever about what we’re putting in or on our bodies—but what’re we laying in every night?
Avocado’s organic mattresses, eco-friendly pillows, and vegan mattress toppers are all naturally-sourced and toxin-free. They’re made from all-natural latex derived through a sustainable tree-tapping process (which does not harm trees). Top layers are stuffed with GOTS certified organic wool from family farms in New Zealand and GOTS certified organic cotton (or, only cotton if you prefer the vegan option). The support is provided by recycled steel coils. Avocado’s products are handmade in California and are Greenguard Gold Certified, meaning they’ve passed rigorous standards for chemical exposure and pollutants.
Compare that to memory foam mattresses, which are made from polyurethane and are “off-gassing”—yeah, they give off gas. Ever smell new memory foam? (If not, spoiler: It kind of stinks.) That’s the off-gassing, the smell is chemicals.

Over the course of an average person’s typical 80-year life, 35 of those years will be spent on a bed: 26 years sleeping, 7 years relaxing, and one year… well, doing other stuff one does on a bed.
So it’s actually a really important decision when it’s time to get a new mattress.
Avocado makes the choice a lot easier by being the best for the world and the best in the world at the same time.
